I hold an MA in Play Therapy from Roehampton University and have been a full member of the British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT) since 2010.
To be a full member of BAPT I must meet the following criteria: completion of a Masters level Play Therapy training course (accredited by BAPT), be in personal therapy, have on-going clinical supervision by a senior Play Therapist, commitment to the BAPT ethical basis for good practice in Play Therapy and hold an up to date clear DBS.
In 2012, I completed the intensive Filial Therapy training for BAPT qualified Play Therapists. Further in 2014, I completed the Child Parent Relationship Therapy training, presented by Garry Landreth.
Prior to training as a Play Therapist I have 20 years experience of supporting disabled children, young people, adults and their families in a variety of Voluntary and Statutory settings to live more empowered and inclusive lives. My particular areas of interest being in Person Centred Planning and creating Circles of Support around vulnerable people and those with complex needs.
For my Therapeutic Life Story Work, I have trained with Richard Rose at the Institute for Arts and Therapy in Education, to achieve the first Diploma in Therapeutic Life Story Work and am now a full member of the professional body – Therapeutic life Story Work International.
I am a parent to 2 of my own children who have taught me more than I ever thought possible and who ensure that every single day is a new day full of potential challenges and incredible possibilities. Parenting is incredibly fulfilling but parenting can also be so very hard. In the words of Dr Seuss…
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.
